The Return of the King — April 9, 2006
So, I decided to name the server “The King.” The decision was slightly based on LOTR (after all, the king in there is about 80 yrs. old…about the age that the server is in computer years :-p). The King was shipped, and arrived with a busted case. On top of that, it’s firmware was out of date…PAIN to get that updated. And, after all of that garbage, I was unable to install and use only Mac OS 10.2 (Possibly also because of shipping). I was able to update it to 10.2.8 though no prob. Got VNC on there, the MP3’s and Video Feeds Drives, and even D2X. This install only took about 8 hours! The drive that came with it (6GB) now has 10.2.8 and old Mac OS 8.6. Someday, I’ll try AGAIN to see if I can get 10.4 on there booting from the 120GB drive to bring it up to higher standards, but as for now I’m just enjoying having a portable laptop that can play music/video wirelessly w/o loss of quality.
